What do we insist on, and what insists on us? Which world does our insisting inhabit, and what does it have to come up against?
Preview (Insisting) is a choreography by and with Lea Martini and Magdalena Meindl in collaboration with composer-musician Marta Forsberg. Something between complex formal composition and clowns-performance, Martini and Meindl develop two edgy characters in a nitpicking score. As they keep bouncing along the verses of their world, a subtle discussion about the dynamics of insisting on sticking together unfolds between them and the audience.
Lea Martini and Magdalena Meindl met in 2016 when hosting dance workshops for kids in a refugee shelter and have been in regular artistic exchange ever since. In 2025, together with Golde Grunske, they hosted the workshop series Worauf insistieren – What to insist on, an exchange and networking platform for dance professionals in Berlin and Brandenburg, between urban and rural environments. From 2020 to 2023, they established the exchange platform shared practice for artists working in dance, performance, and theater at the Heizhaus of Uferstudios Berlin. Preview Insisting is a performance on the verge, in which they are both choreographers and dancers, realizing uncompromisingly shared artistic ideas. The very first steps towards this process were made possible due to residency times at skogen, a place that inspires and delights Lea since many many years.
